    something broke in 200s help

    Ok it started raining so I decided to play in mud on the 200s.it kinda was hard to start witch I thought was odd,rode down the road and back home.it stalled tryed to restart and extemely hard to pull.took cdi cover off and metal came out,like a magled up spring?that holds the advanced?together.now the timing piece(with bolt thre middle that goes to cam)does not spinwith motor,but valves move.what happened?hope that makes sence,if not and your a motor guru give a call if you have a min.thanks all,damion 903-830-2422

    Found my problem.it was the dowel pin that is behind the pulse base.it wedged itself under the pulse base and aluminum housing.tore up the shoulder on cam side.3/4 of the shoulder is still intact could it be used,or will it really go south?thanks all

    I think that I know what you mean, do you still have the dowel, or is it gone? You'll need another advance spring, and maybe another pulse generator or aluminum housing if it partially destroyed houlder, theres a chance it bpart of the shoulder. anything related to engine timing has to be dead on or it will run like crap. Plus, if it hit that seal that seals the timing and the cam, it can leak oil through there. dont just throw it back together, fix it right and save yourself the trouble. i think that this is right, but it depends on the year of the bike, what year is it?

    you may need #3 or a #1 in the diagram, its not available through honda but i'm sure someone on here has one. the diagram is from an 1985

    I got in touch with captain, and heres what he sent me (see below). Looks like you're going to need a new pulse generator, the thing in picture #2. I'm sure that someone on here has one from a parts motor, just put out a WTB on the classifieds page. It looks like the housing is scored but usable, but that generator is trash. hope you find one.

    nut came loose and it tried to turn under load. seen it a few times. you will need a whole new assembly.
    if you do not get the parts you need, post up or look on ebay. someone here will have the parts or ebay will for sure. you just need the whole CDI assembly. if your cam still has the pin that sticks out, your good, if not, you may have a bad cam shaft and will need to replace that as well.
