    83 185s / 84 200m - parts swap???

I got the new mikuni carb installed last night on the 185($35 off ebay, shipped). runs like a champ. this thing has had a little bit of backfiring problem since I got it. looks like that has stopped with the new carb.

now that this one is running right I was thinking I might be able to swap out the coil and cdi module from the 200m to test to see which one is bad on the 200m. looked on partzilla and part numbers are different , of course. anybody know if these parts will swap, from experience, or any reason i should not try to test them out on the 185?

If it is no longer backfiring, then most likley was a carb that needed a rebuild. the parts you can swap are the cylinder, piston, and head (but 185 and 200 same valves so no point there). you cna then get a 200x cap and a xr200 piston for a cheapo upgrade to 10:1 compression with your head. and better performance.
good luck, has lots of funs!!!

Im not at my computer right now to double check, but i believe all the ignition parts should swap just fine between the 185 and 200. The 200ES used a round connector for the CDI but i believe the 200M used the square one like the 185. If the plug is the same it will swap just fine.

Most of the stuff is swappable between them, a 185 is just a 200 with a slightly smaller cylinder size, thats it!
