    New Project - 200x Roller!

So a buddy of mine just picked up an '83 200x from what I found out to be a member on here (taz). The buddy of mine doesn't have an account on here, at least not yet, so I'm running this thread lol
It came with the motor, but it needs work. It's not shifting right, and the rod has play on the crank, plus it needs timing chain and guides, not sure what other top end stuff yet. It might become and auto x while we rebuild the x motor. To bad from what I can tell the 200e crank I have is different on the clutch side and won't work

There's a long list of needed parts so far:
Crank or rod, but the nearest place that can change these rods is an hour drive away.
Gas tank, the one we've got is rotted out
    Muffler
    Clutch lever and cable
    Front brake cylinder and caliper
    A kicker
Plus whatever top end stuff it needs and to fix the shifting issue.

Should be a good project, not to many 200x around this area.

If you're trying to rebuild it on a budget, there are running engines on Ebay for as low as $60, and yopu said there is a lot of crank play on this one...I'd take a chance and buy a cheap engine off Ebay to get it running and then save up and build the original engine in the meantime. Should be a nice project man, definitely keep us informed.

I think my buddy wants to swap in one of my auto-200's for now, and buy just a connecting rod kit, I guess he's got another crank for another bike that needs a new rod pressed in, so he's gotta make a run to that shop sometime anyway.

I'll pm ya oldskool, when I get more of a parts list haha.
I guess it needs a cdi too, that's missing, and so are the kick start gears haha.

Sounds like it needs some work lol. Sounds kind of like the '84 X I could have picked up for $150 but I passed on it, for now anyways.

He traded for bike that wasn't any good to him, and that he didn't have much into, so he's not out much more than the gas money he gave me to go pick it up lol

The main killer is shipping to Canada, plus brokerage fee's to come across the border. A new plastic tank for my 250sx cost me another $42 because of that, COD.

Yeah shipping is a big concern as to why I don't go out of my way on another bike. I don't feel like paying over half of what I'd put into the bike in shipping alone.

So we had another look at the bike today and found a few more things out. The cylinder is a 185 cylinder bored out to a 200, piston size is 2.57"/65.3 mm, measured with a cheap caliper. I know it's a 185 cylinder because it has the 180cc mark.
We also found out that this frame had a 200m (I believe) motor in it at one point. The wiring harness is 200m, and the frame has the bend in it for the e-start.

We know a guy with some parts, so we might just try to get like a complete harness from a non e-start bike from him, as we don't have any handle bar switches and no cdi, or might spend a little more and get a complete 200x harness from ebay.

Threw in a pic of where the bike is now. I brought over one of my auto 200 engines and we set it in.

So we did a little more work on the X today. We changed the rear bearings, and found the axle to be wrecked. The bike got run with bad bearings, then got run way more. The inner races of the old bearings were broken, the ball bearings were all loose in the carrier, and the axle was all chewed, so even with the new bearings, there's still play in axle.
