yup. need the triangular shaped copper gasket "shim" that goes between the output assembly and the motor. please let me know if you've got a good used or new gasket...or if you know where to find one online.

MBP, the only things between the motor and side gear is an oil boss, a dowel, and an oring. The only triangular shim used is in the side gear assembly its self. See the diagram. Item 5, 20. 21, and 23 are the only items between the side gear and motor.

Yup, the shim is just like the rear differential meshing has. Hence the different thicknesses....
Other than that, there is just an o-ring.......

Ya the copper shim is to set the bevel gear backlash when the side gear is rebuilt. The shim can be bought in different thicknesses depending on the backlash but to mate the side gear with the motor, no copper gasket is required.

It sets up just like a trucks rear differential where the pattern of contact and backlash should be close on to factory specs......
