    weird dg pipe question?

I bought a full DG system this morning for $40!!!! Went to meet the guy a 6:30 this morning.got the pipe and through it in the bed of my truck without really y looking at it(knew it had to be better than what I was running.lol) got home, slept for a few hours got up and came to work.started wrenching on the 350x got the stock pipe crap off and went to install the new header, got it on with no problems.got the muffler and went to put it on a noticed a supertrapp disc pack on the end!!! Its got four disc in it and looks like it was made for this pipe? Has anyone seen this before?

Yup I just bought a pipe that had the same setup. Took it off it blew a seal at the beginning section of the pipe due to, to much back pressure frim that disk set up.

that is a std ole super trap. they were around in the early 70's. the more discs you add the LESS "back pressure" it has.

Taking the disks out adds back-pressure & makes the exhaust quieter... at least that.s how the supertrapps work... the more disks your add, the more free flowing & loud the exhaust will be... I think on supertapps you can add up (12) disks.. I think...

The more disks you add, the less back pressure, more free flowing, and more of a "top end" pipe it becomes. The less plates, the quieter, bore back pressure, and more "low end" pipe it is.

On this DG pipe it's probably just something that works so someone could get around the spark arrestor laws

Yeah the guy I bought it from was from Florida. I understand about the disc's, I just took em out as to not have any back pressure. for some reason my 350 didn't like being stopped up like that.

I took my disks and everything off also. No reason for super trap disks on it. I know they don't belong because the bolt has been cut down to fit correctly.
