85 250r rear bearing help

So im trying to replace the rear axle bearings but the old ones arent coming out, ive got most of the bearing out but the outside track, ive done everything short of cutting it, does anyone know how to replace these properly? Any advice is greatly appreciated

Heat Baby!!!!! The aluminum carrier will expand faster then the steel the race is made of.

It also helps if you have a long drift and a to get the races out. Now for the installation, heat the carrier to about 200deg and freeze the bearings over night. Be sure the inside of the carrier is smooth prior to installing the bearings.

Couldnt i just use a shop press as well to get the new ones in?

absolutely. its pounding on the bearing I discourage so yes a press is one good option.

I use a length of 3/8 threaded rod as a press for my carrier bearings. Washer the size of the bearing and a nut on one end.
Bigger washer the size of the carrier edge on the other end. Tighten it down, presses it in.

Heat it and slam the carrier on a 2x6, they will drop right out!!

It's hard to find a sharp edge to butt any kind of punch against if it's the outer race. In the past I have tack welded a small piece of round stock or flat stock from one side to the other of the race just for something to tap on. Be Very careful not to to hard on one side (especially the brake stay side) as it can cock the race sideways and split the aluminum as it's thin on that side. Be careful heating aluminum!!!!! A lot of people learn the hard way when heating it as all the sudden with NO notice it will melt into a big Blob.. Aluminum does not turn red like steel, it just drips off onto the floor and is then JUNK..
