Some one most likely swapped out the swinger with the 83 one.

YEAH I LIKE HONDA
They swapped their square tube 85 for an 83...lol
Why would they do that on a brand new trike? (We never changed it)
Who knows....
83 you dont need the shock linkkage because it is build into the swingarm. it does the same thing however.
You've owned it since new??
Rob
The story is my dad bought a pair of 200X's in 1992 that were in brand new condition for $500. Hence why I'm confused. Unless the previous owner changed it for some unknown reason. The one we have now was "my moms" and the other one was "my dads" and got a lot of the upgrades (motor entirely rebuilt) before he got rid of it. He's always said they were both identical (meaning 200X's) but I always remember his being white...might have been an 86/87...I've also heard it may have been a quad though I don't remember it being one. At the same time, the guy we sold it to has what looks to be a 200X quad...but with a red seat...possible a 250X with no decals. I remember it having a wire mesh headlight guard on it that he made, like the ones you see on big 4x4s, nand it being a bit more mean and sportier. As far as I know, this one was/is unmolested. The tires/rims on it now are actually off the other one. I still have the originals for this one however, along with the "FX by Fulmer" helmets that came with them. The only thing that I know of that was changed was the tool box and grab bar came off (I've heard either the other trike got the bar or it never had one) and there was supposedly a piece of chrome trim all around the front fender where the fender extender holes are, which is why I have a fender brace and headlight guard. It also got a gas tank cover made by CEET.
Also, it has a blue shock if that matters, not a red one typically seen on an 83 and 84.

wWy bother to think of what if? You got an 83 arm on a 85. Big deal man, go ride and don't worry about it, they all do the same thing, and make the bike wheelie since they are short.
