I myself would go with the R by a long shot if its in decent shape. But if its beat and the X is a nice running machine that would be my choice if you want a runner right away.

Oh I forgot the 250r has a 310 big bore kit. It seems like the better deal but the 200x is alot cheaper.

Its more than just a "which one" question
Depending on year, condition, aftermarkets and price, the "which one" changes
    Need details

It's like asking if you want a filet mignon or just a normal meal...
    I would take the steak!

but, if I told you that the steak is 7 months out of date, overcooked, outrageously priced, and dirty like its been dropped on the bathroom floor more than a few times, and the normal meal is mouth-wateringly seasoned and cooked to perfection, then what would you take?

That really is a tough question for anyone to answer. If you had pics and a bit more detail about each machine, it would be a little easier. What's the price for the 250r? Or what u trading for it? What years are they? Really, everyone needs a lot more info. to help you.

250r all the way. I dont know why, but I just dont like 200X's for some reason. I have spent time riding a 200x before and they just dont do it for me. So my vote is the 310 equipped 250r. if its running.

    Other than:
    Rear bearings
    Swingarm bearings
    front axle bearings
    parking brake
    clutch plates and discs
    levers

    Yes, you're right!

Just watch out, both are major money pits

I'm pretty sure there is more upkeep/maintenance to a 250r. I can speak for the 200x, I had zero problems with mine. A buddy of mine had a 250r way back in the day and we were always waiting on him. The rest of us had 4 strokes. Maybe he had a POS, but that's just my experience. I'm not dissing an R either, because I want one.
