'83 200x cruiser?
I'm thinking about fixing up my 200x to ride around on gravel roads. I would like to go about 60 mph with it. What gears should I run?
-
Depends on how big your tires are.

Someone out there is gonna disagree with me I'm sure but with stock gearing and 22s my dirt X runs 55mph, so if your engine has enough power, you should be able to achieve around 60mph with just one up on the front OR 2-4 down on the rear. Also keeping in mind that "22s" can vary by as much as a few inches in height depending on the manufacturer and style.

It will probably get new wheels and tires for the rear. I hate the ones that are on there.
-
If you are thinking of new tires, I highly reccomend a flatter profiled 20s over the 22s, it makes a world of difference on the X in my opinion.
-
I like rounder tires. They ride better.

stock 400ex tires and wheels are super cheap second hand as everyone with that bike seems to upgrade and they are excellent on a 200x. just those and loose 4-6 teeth on rear sprocket will get you 62-65mph bone stock, mine did at least

Topped out I've had mine as fast as 65 when fresh and on a very good day and extremely hard run. HOWEVER. With the tires and somewhat tired engine in it now, I'd be lucky to see 55.
