Just bought a 200x...She starts good, Runs good and rides good..Just needs some cleaning and love! The exhaust is just a straight pipe back is missing..The rear brakes are not working any suggestions on how to fix?? Probably ride even better with new exhaust? Thanks!! Still working on the 90!!!!

Welcome to the X club!
Definitely wanna get a muffler on there for peak low and midrange power, and engine longevity.
The search function will be a great tool for the rear brake rebuild info... also search "200x brake options" or "swap". I think you will like what you find!!

I just don't have the patience to jet carbs for non oem mufflers so I try to stay stock.
If you do get a new muffler on it you might get lucky jetwise.

First thing to do is see what jets you have in there, should be a #40 pilot and a #108 or #110 main(can't remember exactly for 84)

I'm gonna make a huge assumption here and say if just the muffler is missing then it probably has stock jets, and the muffler just got lost along the way.

If the performance decreases when you get a muffler on there, there are several good jetting threads on here, if i remember correctly el camexican has a great one on here that is really easy to follow.

My last 200x had a full exhaust and I ran a 112 and it was perfect.the brakes are fairly easy to repair.first check and see if you have plenty of fluid in the reservoir,then loosen your calipers bleeding valve and press the brake and see if you have fluid come out of it.if it doesn't you may have a problem before the caliper,"master cylinder" may need rebuilt.if there is fluid coming out and still no brakes then your pistons may be seized in the caliper.you probably need new pads anyway so just pull the caliper and remove your old brake pads.use a c-clamp or whatever you have to push the piston in and then put your air nozzle tip in the hole where you removed the brake line from on the caliper.slide an old pad in and give it some pressure and see if it will move out."definitely slide the old pad in before shooting air to it"ask me how I know this!!your piston may put your eye out or be lost in the garage jungle!if it moves out easily you may just need to flush you setup and if it doesn't then remove your old pad and use a towel or anything of that nature and blow the piston out and use emerycloth to clean the piston and cylinder wall.you may have to replace the seal in the cylinder.if it won't blow out with air you may have to use needle nose vice grips and "gently turn back and forth while pulling outward".marvel mystery oil is your best friend on this project,or any for that matter.after its good and cleaned out pop the cylinder back in and install new pads and your done.

if you need to get rebuild kits for the rear master cylinder they are hard to find. A rebuild kit for a 300ex works great. I installed that on my 350x and have no leaks or problems.
The 350x has the same rear master cylinder as a 200x.
