I thought that LED's had overheating problems unless they have a heat sink, so a good thing would be to run for like an hour and see what kind of heat they are making. The heat is not from the light produced (like an incandescent) but rather is at the base and behind the bulb. Get back to us if you could test them like that, maybe riding (air flowing) and sitting (stagnant air)

    Nice BR btw!

Thank you. This is the back of the LED. Not sure that it is a heat sink, but it appears to be used as one. What do you think?Click image for larger version.

Yep thats a heat sink (as long as its metal). You're fine.
It should be aluminum, IDK if it's just me but it looks plastic in the picture.

I have these same lights in the round version, they are a solid heavy block of finned aluminum. I have been using them for almost two years now, moving, sitting still, they get warm but never overly hot. Really good lights for the money.

The funny thing is Hella is now rebranding them and selling them as their own. They are not Hella made, they are made by one of the large led light manufacturers in China. So far i haven't had any issues with them. I have a 18w round flood version of these lights on my walk behind snowblower, thats been on there for four seasons now and takes quite a beating from vibration when running. I have been very impressed with their quality.

I added a 18w to the back of my 200ES for plowing, needed some backup light, about a week ago and it sure makes it nice working in the dark. I plan on getting some more of the 27w floods for my Jeep, need some rear facing light for working. Would be nice to have some cargo lights for when i am pulling a trailer. Maybe wire one into the reverse circuit as a backup light, etc. They are so affordable, i have got them for less than $30 each on eBay.

You should post some pics. I am thinking of putting one in my trailer as well. I am about to buy a triangular tongue box and I think on the inside of the box I will add a switch and have one light in the bed of the trailer and one in the inside of the box. I have a single stage snowblower or it would have one also. I do have a 33" walk behind mower that I end up finishing the neighbors yards at night which means thats a perfect excuse to mount a couple on it for more light. Who knows where they will end up next the pair on the front of my big red were $50 shipped.

Here is the pair of 27w units on my 200ES, one is a 60 degree spot and the other is a 90 degree flood, makes for a nice combo and a larger lit area in front. I don't have a pic of the 18w on the back yet, i just got it done last week and its just been to dang cold to go out and snap a pic. Might have to do some plowing tomorrow though so then i can get a picture of it in use.

Here is the 18w version on my walk behind snowblower, its an old 73 Craftsman 28 inch cut, has the extra drift chipper above the main auger, does great on the deep stuff, actually even better than my big lawn tractor blower because this old Craftsman is chain drive from the motor to the blower and augers. It has a centrifugal chain clutch on the motor just like a go kart motor setup. Thats the main reason it goes through stuff my other blower cant, the other one will get too much of a load on it and the belts will slip, on this one it will go until the motor dies. I repowered it with a new 7hp DuroMax motor i got off ebay, its a clone of the Honda GX series motor. The original Tecumseh motor was getting weak and nearly due for another overhaul so i decided it did enough. Plus i was able to add a battery and electric start, turn the key and go!
