250es headlight. Does it need the battery to light? even if dead?

Sorry for the nitpick milti posts but I need either a crutch or 2 canes to walk
so anything that will decrease my trips to the trike carrying tools is appreciated.

All set to fire up the 85 es250. OCD'd on the wiring and now ready to try the lights but only have a dead battery to put in.
Does it need a battery in it, even if dead, to complete the circuit?

I forget but as I recall, when they run without a battery, the neutral light and headlight should glow?

or am I thinking about the non battery models?

    Thanks

No battery is needed for the lights to work, as long as the trike is running.

    Thanks for saving me steps.

so you mean NO battery IN the trike at all? or dead is ok as long as it's completing the circuit.

Lights will work without the battery if it is running . That being said ,,, as long as all the rest is in good working order .
