Are the front brake calipers interchangeable between 250r and 350x?

^^^^^^^ That very question. I tried to do some searching on the forum but didn't find anything pertaining to that question. I'm seeing on eBay that 250r calipers are both more plentiful and inexpensive, so I'm wondering if they are the same caliper in terms of mounting to the forks?

As I recall from my 350X brake hunting - Yes and no.

350X used 2 different calipers in 85 and 86 - one with fins and one without. The cutoff is roughly 85=finned and 86=not but it's not exact.
They use different brake pads - one (non-finned) uses one pin to hold the pads in, the other uses 2 pins.
The bracket must match the caliper.

Looks like the 250R has different part numbers for 85/86 but the caliper is the same - I think....

The 250 caliper should work on the 350X bracket for the finned caliper.
The finned caliper is also found on various XR/XL motorcycles.

The 85 350X front caliper and both 250R front calipers and the XL/XR calipers all use the same pad that has 2 retention pins.

An interesting note - late 80s-90s CR front calipers use the same pad as the 86 350X non-fined caliper. I wonder if they'll mount on the 350X bracket and work on the 350X? I need a caliper and bracket for the front of my 86.

I do know that 85 350x caliper works on an 86 250r aslong as you use the 250r mounting bracket. And vice versa.

I as well believe the finned caliper in 85 was different from the smooth in 86.

I'd just simply check the part number at Service Honda....
