Ideas for making my own speedometer bracket.

Well I'm going to either make my own bracket or scavenge from another bike. Unless you guys have some ideas. Or maybe you have the bracket I need. I have managed to scrape together the necessary parts for my ATC250ES speedo, cable, straps, drive. But just looking for a solution on that mounting bracket for the head.

Well depending on how you attach them I might be able to use them. I believe it's only a single bolt that holds it.

I had this same problem last year when I did my 'back in black' trike build..

I managed to fab up the head mount, the drive I found on one of my parts trikes, and the cable I bought on ebay.

Here is the cable I bought..perfect fit. Good luck with the rest of the parts..

So what did you use as a head bracket? I guess I can use angle bar or mod another used bracket from eBay.

Just a piece of flat steel about 6 inches long..drilled four holes in it.

Two for the 2 retaining bolts on the speedo head with a larger diameter hole between for the speedo driven stub to fit thru..the forth big enough for the right upper shock bolt to go thru to secure it to the machine. Not the prettiest arrangement but it works until the day I luck out and find a stock mount..

Very simple bracket. But, takes a bit of time to setup and dial it all in dead nuts. I don't like to be told to "just get it close" when just a bit more time gets it dead nuts and can make the OEM look like crapola

I'm losing a TON of business of taking on these simple repro's, It's just the weather and time but I hope this spring is well. Then the apartment business will need me full time. I give up

I'm certain I can make these things at a fair cost and out of aluminum; Just not interested in powder coating it, but I will be back in time......

DC, it'd be awesome if you can source the rubber grommet and bolt sleeve to both reduce the speedo head vibration, but also the keep the two dis-similar metals from touching eachother!!

I'll be down for one when you are done DC..

I have been using GM Windshield wiper motor rubber mounts, Like mid 70s Truck, that you can find in the "Help" section at Pep Boys, etc not exact as speedo but can work< I also use them as front fender rubbers
