Germans have contributed to music for centuries. For anyone who doesn't know, classical music is widely influenced by German and Russian composers. It's like a lot of films I watch, which explore the darker sides of humanity, and not that juvenile Saw type junk. Like Metropolis and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, this Rammstein video explores something more primal.

This is a song from 1967 that I heard many times growing up, but I've only come to truly appreciate it over the last couple of years. If you picture this "noise" being played in 1967, it must have absolutely blown minds. Around that time is the birth of rock and roll when the drums started changing drastically thanks to Ginger Baker. At any rate, this song is way ahead of it's time and I imagine Arthur is aware his art is alive and well.

Here is a song that helped get me through a very rough patch. was turned on to this group with this song a few years back. Volbeat, "Still counting".

Welcome to the Machine. Seems very relevant today.

This comes up on my MP3 player sometimes and it reminds me a little bit of Ministry mixed with NIN/Tool. It came up today as the last song before I closed the shop. Everything on my MP3 player is there because I put it there, but I forget what's all on it because I buy stacks of CDs at places like flea markets to find stuff I've never heard before, like Bong Hits for Geezers, which is a NOLA CD I bought in Utah. There's a lot of great small/local bands that you'll never hear of on places like I-tunes, but their local produced CDs are out there.

Wyoming indigenous music. I don't listen to the Nashville phony MTV country stuff, but I can stop and listen to this stuff because it's made by people who live it. Videos filmed in Wyoming. Tris Munsick first:

New mainstram 'country' music is outright disgusting. It's the same basic formulation for all mainstream music anymore, with a little adjustment for each target audience or rather, for each economic demographic.
Today's country music isn't too far off from just condoning alcoholism and adultery. It probably has boosted pickup sales though.
