Im not really sure what I'd do with it. I figured i could ride it this summer to and from work to save on my 2 hour round trip. My uncle does upholstery and I'll be into the dirt bike for around 6 hundred anyway. Plus i have an 89 kx 125 with green tires that im more comfortable riding anyways.Click image for larger version.

Is that GS running? I put a lot of miles on a 79 GS1000 like that - spoke wheels, single disk.

They still had points in 78. I hate points.
Notorious for burning up stators. Can be fixed.

Otherwise, one of the best UJMs ever.

Yeah it runs. I was thinking about upgrading to a dyna ignition but I'd like to see the bike first. I've just been so busy i haven't been able to go with the guy to see it

Now i just have to order a headlight housing and some marker lights and I'll be set for now. Im still trying to figure out what direction i wanna go with the bike if i do anything at all.

That was my first road bike. Its is very fast and fun to ride. The rubber boots on the end of the carb get rotted so keep an eye out for that, otherwise its a suzuki... bulletproof,

It's pretty fast but the carbs need cleaned and synced and some oil leaks need fix but all in all it seems like a good bike for the 650 or so i had in the dirt bike i traded for it.

I've bought and sold several. Great power for an old bike. Here's one I changed up a little and sold for a decent profit.

Nice look. That one is a 4 valve, he's got the older 2 valve with a roller bearing crank. I think that 4 valve has a plain bearing crank. They would spin bearings if you wheelied them too far.

You know what el, i did not know mine had a 4 valve head. No wonder that thing was so damn fast. The way i had it setup there with the bars down, it would rather burn the skinny rear through 3 gears than stand up. Those are kz650 bars cut down to lower the rise(or raise the drop in this case,,lol) and narrow them 2 inches, and flipped upside down. Thing was a beast.

What year did they change to a 4 valve head?

    Aside from internal engine mods....

Take as much weight off as possible.

I've built tons of 70's 80's DOHC motorcycles, nothing will help everything more than shedding weight, goes faster, stops better, handles better, and its free.

4 into 1 exhaust and jetting will help quite a bit as well.

There may be a Dyna S ignition for that bike, I do not know if it has electronic ignition or not. If it still has points then the dyna S is an upgrade for high rpm horsepower.

If it has CV carbs do not mess with the air box.

EDIT: looking at the pic they appear to mikuni mechanical round slides, but I'm still not a fan of pods on a stock engine.

I have already ordered a stock replacement airfilter for it. Im also gonna order a valve cover gasket since mine is leaking and adjust the valves while i have it apart. They do make a Dyna S ignition for the bike. They recommend replacing the coils too and the whole kit i found is about $260 bucks. Thats coils, wires and the electronic pick up
