    Cleaning a Motor

I tore apart an 86 200s bottom end I am using for an auto x project and I'm am looking for ways to clean the casings. The insides are good... just had some trash I had to clean out. But the outsides are filthy. I'm gonna scrub them, but is there something I can soak them in to eat all the grime and loose stuff off?

I use an engine grime remover from any automotive store. Works better if the motor is warm (not hot) let it soak, brush the really grimy areas then hose off. Pressure washer works good, just don't blast it on at full power too close...

engine degreaser, Simple Green, hot water, some scrubbing and maybe finish up with a wire brush on a drill or bench grinder?
