Need Reccomendations For Top Quality Heat Paint Please

I'm just seeing what anyone reccomends for the best quality black heat paint. Preferably semi gloss finish. But mainly just something that is thick and stays looking perfect, goes on well etc...

    Let me know.

    Thanks.

I've had very good results with Dulicolor semi-gloss black engine paint, but it's all about the prep. and application. As far as staying on I've never had issues with pressure washing any off, but a stone will penetrate it.

I like VHT for engine enamels.

What heat range are you looking for? Engine paint is typically in the 600° range and exhaust paint is anywhere from 1000° up.

Paints that are designed for high heat applications require heated curing, and as el camexican said, prep is everything. If it is aluminum you are painting, don't go too fine on the grit for prep, it won't stick.

No paint stays looking perfect, unless the machine is just for looking at!

That VHT is good stuff. Too bad I can't find it down here.

I've tried a few high temp powder coats and they never stay great looking; So, go with the others options....

If you put paint over bare aluminum the adhesion wont be there. You need a none ferrous metal primer 1st. Aluminum is a none ferrous metal, that means a magnet wont stick to it. Bake your parts if possible for a harder cure. If your painting a header, good luck on that one.

I've had good results on VHT paint too. Carefully prep and then bake the part afterwards at 200 degrees F for one hour. Hard durable finish that works better than Powdercoating on high temp parts
