I used a dull chisel but any thick flat head screw driver should do and take a to it and it should come out.

Hope your getting it cheap. Tires look good though so thats a plus. The recoil might be a problem, expensive but im sure someone here has one. Lots of paint removal to do. Unless you dont care. And a seat cover. Plus fenders if you want it pretty.

Ok after running the big red if i check the oil when its warm some pressure comes out the dip stick hole is this normal? Also the starter doesnt work but its always spinning when motors running is that bad?

pressure coming out of the dipstick hole isnt good, but could be an easy fix. im guessing the crank case vent is clogged. should be a little fitting and hose somewhere in the middle of the crankcase under the carb area and probably behind the starter somewhere.

yes the starter running with the motor running isnt good. you have a bearing shot somewhere. like some have mentioned the one way bearing is probably shot. youll end up destroying that starter running it like that.

Like you say, they'll need a bit of tinkering, but it won't take much to get a decent runner going. I think you'll be happy with the upgrade. Besides, half the fun is working on these things!

On a side note, how can someone just abandon these trikes to the elements like that (sitting in the snow drifts). Man, it's almost criminal to neglect them in such a way.
I know, how can they do that? One of my freinds (as I just recently discovered) has a 250r that he just left outside in the weeds for eight years. Now im gonna fix it up for him out of pity for the machine. It just makes me sad to see it sitting outside.
