200x/250r/350x Thumb Throttle Cover Detail "Tip"

One small detail that I did not get done prior to the race in Cali two weeks ago was the HONDA letters on the thumber.

I sand blasted the cover then painted black. The paint used was VHT 600 spray bomb.

Once the cover fully dried, I then took a sanding block and 2500 grit paper and wet sanded, trying to focus only on the HONDA letters. This removed the paint and then took 3M rubbing compound and polished to a high shine.

In doing so some of the surrounding black paint also gets sanded. This also removed some of the orange peel and other imperfections which is why I was not worried about how the paint looked.

There is also a little wax residue in the letter A, will get that cleaned up directly, happy with the results for sure.

Another way to do this is to paint the HONDA letters with a different color, like silver and then follow the same process to expose the letters.

    Looks good Mike...

Side note: Those grips are the bomb aren't they?? I have them on most of my machines.. Best grips I have ever used. Love the comfort and the locking feature is the icing on the cake.

ODI grips are hands down the BEST grip out there. I tried everything to get standard grips to stick and NOTHING works they always end up spinning. I have these grips on 90% of my machines, the only ones that do not are the ones with OEM grips still installed.

Once I discovered ODI there's no looking back!! Best grips on the market.
I recently tried a pair of the fly looking grips because they're have the price and don't even come close to the comfort of the ODI rouge

Nice tip on the cover, I'm going to try it on mine
