1st Gen Tecate AMAZINGNESS! Pics inside!

So I have been slowly working on my first gen Tecate rebuild/restore. Haven't made a lot of progress lately. Have had a few snags getting some specific things I wanted and a 3rd TPC got in the way so that has taken all my time.

But I just finally got one part in the mail that I had custom made. Check it out. So nice. This will really set this build off. I am going to polish the tops and bottoms to a mirror. Enjoy!

I can get more made, yes. But seriously expensive... Way more then I thought it would be. While it is perfect and exactly what I wanted I just didn't realize what it would cost that. I have/had 3 first gens that I started with and I paid almost as much for this radiator as the 3 tecates combined. Lol. But I love this stuff and am "trike addicted"

I was talking to someone the other day that said they sent a set of rads of to china to be made (cr 500 I think) now they are available for under 100 bucks. I'm gonna have to remember who it was I was talking to.

Wow. That's cool. I wonder what they paid for the first set?

I am done with china quality crap personally. But maybe something like a small radiator would be ok.

Thats a QUALITY pc right there. Lots of skill. I do machining/weld/fabricate for a living so I know the amnt of work that would go into that. $650 would be more than fair for the amount of work in a one-off pc like that.

And Im not good at aluminum welding at ALL but Kyle who is our resident alum tig welder would have quite a bit of time in that just in tig. Then you got a machined neck and cutting the core to size and its starts getting labor intensive. Definitely quality work there.

I also.agree with no more cheap chinese stuff.

I think your right Harry. I haven't heard anything bad about the china rads at all. In fact I know one builder that has used them and the only difference he has noticed compared to a 450.00 set is that it hurts the wallet a lot less when you crash.

I'm not one to spend a lot on one certain part, and I don't even own a tecate (yet;-) but I would pay whatever you paid for that gorgeous piece of work any day just to hang it on a wall, because it is art.

I use Chinese parts regularly, but the quality of that piece is worth every penny guaranteed.
