    Question regarding new trike shirts

I've been kicking around some ideas for new trike shirts. What I want to do, I don't have the equipment for so I'd have to outsource it raising my costs substantially. I'm trying to get an idea of how much is too much when it comes to shirt prices. I see t-shirts in stores for up to $35 sometimes if they have crazy large prints on them. I've always thought that's a completely ridiculous price to pay for a t-shirt though. I'm guessing from a little preliminary poking around that single sided t-shirts will probably cost anywhere from $15 each to $20 each depending on how many are ordered. Keep in mind we're talking about a much better design and print than previous ones though. Worth a slight bump in cost to me as long as it doesn't get crazy.

So for some seriously badass trike shirts, what's your limit?

I need to know this because every color adds to the price. Printing on the front AND back adds to the price. Sleeve prints add to the price. So what I'm doing is trying to figure out how nutty I can get on the designs before the cost is just too high to sell the things.

Also, if I do this, I will have no choice but to charge in advance and people will have to wait probably 3-6 weeks to get their orders. I'll have photoshop mock ups to show at the time I take orders. Keep an eye out and be ready to jump in on the order if it happens. We're talking much, MUCH more detailed designs, much larger prints, vey cool more modern looking type printing with gradients instead of just a solid silhouette. Might be multi-color, might be greyscale. Not sure. Greyscale can look awesome with half tones though. In my head I almost prefer it.

Doing it this way gives me the ability to do MORE designs. Like a 200x, 350x, 250r, Tecate, whatever. Anything I can get good source images to make the designs from. Then it just becomes a matter of how many people want of each design because that will affect price as well (in other words, I could do an obscure trike design like a 110 or something, it will just cost more per piece if only a few people want it, the more popular, the lower the cost will be). Lots to figure out still but need to get some pricing opinions before going any further with it. Another nice benefit to outsourcing is I can get ANY size without having to get an entire dozen. Nobody gets left out.

Not just t-shirts by the way. I'd like to know what you think for t-shirts, long sleeve shirts/jerseys and sweatshirts.

Is it worth paying extra to have something printed on the sleeves? Cost on that is an extra $3.50-7.00 PER SHIRT to give you an idea. In the numbers we'd be getting most likely $7 extra per shirt. Kinda pricey to me but it would definitely look badass.

Id pay a few extra bucks for a better (colorful) design. I especially like the sleeve print idea and would suggest you look into peculiar placement of the designs. Basically, I mean not the standard small logo on the chest over the heart and large print centered in the back. Maybe something like large print on the front and the small print centered on the back near your neck line. Or the small print ran somewhere around the rib cage area of the shirt. I love the idea of Jerseys and Long Sleeve shirts though. For a standard T shirt I would say no more than $30 or so. For a Long Sleeve $35-40 seems reasonable. And the jerseys I know are costly so probably closer to $50+. This is a great idea though man and would love to see some sick trike shirts come out of it.

I would have no problem paying $20 or more for a t shirt if was to my liking. But what I like would most likely not be what someone else would want. I prefer top quality THICK shirts with a very simple but quality graphic on the back only. Seems like every time someone comes up with a shirt design its some gaudy, giant, cartoon like image on the front on a paper thin shirt that belongs at walmart. To many colors fills in to much fabric and makes you sweat. Gray scale, or just a one color outline would be nice.

By the way, I think I own your old 350x.

I would gladly pay more for some cool designs. Not a fan of long sleeve shirts or jerseys but I would buy t-shirts and hoodies. Sleeve printing is kind of a hit or miss in my opinion so probably not worth the additional costs. I would however pay more for a shirt with front and back printing. I also don't have a problem with pre-paying and waiting a few weeks.

If you are looking for more specific numbers I would say $20-$25 would be the max for t-shirts and $40-$50 for hoodies. The price I would personally pay would vary a lot based on the design.

No problem paying around $20 to help support the cause but, I have so many that its not something I would jump up and down to get.

T shirts generally go for $35 around here with large front and back printing, longs go for about $10 more. Hoodies can get seriously expensive FAST though. Personally, I don't really like paying more than $20 with shipping included.

I would love a nice T shirt with custom printing on it, but I just don't have the funds right now.

I'm not really sure what I'd want on it though. Maybe a large picture of a 1985 200X on the front or back (eithers fine) with "HONDA ATC200X" written across the shoulders on the back.

Another idea I've had is whatever your trike is on the front with it's model name and on the back it says "Real Men Ride 3", again shoulder width with a large print picture of a trike in the middle.

If I ever went through with it, I could send you photoshop mockups.

I'd be game for some different design t's, long sleeves and hoodies. My final decision would be based on the designs of course.

Why not do custom shirts from the buyers own photos or designs? Its more work but worth it in the end. As long as the people who want you to use their images can get you a good, hi rez image to work off of and not a cell phone image lol

Not cost effective at all. Not with screen printing anyway. You need a digital DTG printer for one offs to make any sense.
