big red 250 ES battery helps"

New to forum here but have had atc's since I was in high school. I have two honda 200s' a honda big red 250es a yamaha 225dx and a little yamaha tri zinger for my daughter. I went to start the 250 es big red over the winter and only the neutral light would come on, dead/old battery. I have had this three wheeler six years now and have never touched the battery! I forgot it even took a battery its been so reliable! Whatever brand of battery is in it is the one Im going to get again because that has been the best atv battery I have ever owned. So I pulled the seat off and get to looking in there and I see no way that the battery can come out. I feel retarded at this point. Its like the chassis was built around the battery. So I tried to download a manual for the atc as I do not have one and found a couple posts on here searching around for links to manuals... one waswww. atcmanuals.info and the other was oscarmayer.net I believe. I got to the atc manuals info site and the picture on the homepage of that site is the three wheeler I have so I figure Im in business But when I tried to download it on shop computer it would fail to download... so I go in house and try to download it on another computer and same thing. So I do not have a manual and cannot find one anywhere else. Can I buy one for this or can someone tell me how to get this damn battery out? I feel like Im missing something simple looking at how this battery should come out but I canot see it. The atc does have a aftermarket rear rack on it of some sort but I do not think that is in the way at all, it seems to be the chassis of the atc holding me up.... Gonna try to download the manual again tonight but this will be about the eighth time I have tried to download it. Any help at this point would be appreciated, this atc is awesome and I need to get it back in the woods again asap, its a work horse around the farm here.

I have a 250sx, and im guessing the batteries go in the same. I will look at mine hopefully this weekend. It doesn't have a battery in it, but hopefully i can still figure out what you mean.

Stock set-up is just a clamp with a wingnut holding the battery down. See #2 and #18 at this link:

I'm guessing you have some kind of aftermarket setup. Post up a pic of what you got so we can tell what's going on...

Its definitely not just a wing nut. I have had other 200m type big reds in the past that were like that and easy to access. Like i said its like they built this atc around the battery! I tried downloading the service manual again three times and still no luck

Can you post a pic? Mine has a battery box with a bolt in the door.

Get behind machine on your knees. There is a 10MM bolt holding a door/holding your battery in. No wing nuts.. Battery then slides out.

Try ebay or even Clymer.com to buy direct from the company. I prefer to use a Honda manual if I can. Sometimes a dealer can still order one. They give better info and have better pictures.

I'm sorry, I was thinking the 200ES, you have the 250ES...my mistake. ATC007 is right. There's a door at the back that swings open.

Thanks for the replies I finally figured it out with your help. Mine has what I assume is a aftermarket rack. If you take the seat off there are two bolts that hold the fenders and rack down. All I had to do was remove those by hand and remove the two little side covers. After that the whole rear fenders and rack actually lifted up and tilted back giving me easy access to the battery with the little hinged door holding it in. The battery that was in it lasted six years with no charge going to it and no battery tender on it. It was made by Energizer I did not even know that they made that type of battery. The new battery that I installed was a gel type that I found on eBay. I ordered two of them and am going to give them a shot they were very reasonably priced. Think I paid around $90 for both of them with the shipping
