Dont know itf the tecate is a single rate, but this will get the ballpark rate on a single rate spring.

If you have a tall enough drill press, put a bathroom scale on the drills work table and put the spring on top of the scale. Lay a short 2x4 across the spring, press down a MEASURED INCH with the drill press.

Read the scale. Walla, Pounds per inch.

I know nothing about the spring rate but for my 86 with a +2 I used an 83 kx 250 spring with 1 coil cut off. The wire diameter is a 1/16" or so bigger and the spring ended up about 1/2" longer than a stock spring. I tried that route because I had the kx spring and was trying to avoid buying a new one,I couldn't have asked for a better result.
