    Question What's It Worth - '85 250R

Kills me to even think about this, but I'm hoping you guys can give me an idea of what the 250R could bring in...

Unfortunately I am moving out of state and don't have the room to bring much of anything with me, including the toys. I purchased the R in late Feb. / early March and got it running after a few weeks; I've only ridden it for about half an hour, but absolutely love it. The only option I have besides selling is keeping the trike at my parents, which I would never hear the end of, if I could even sneak it in.

Below is the list of things the previous owner did during the fall & winter of '12/ '13...

    Trike is a 1985 Honda ATC 250R

The items in parenthesis are used part.

    “New gas tank”
New seat cover and foam. (new cover isn't actually mounted, but will be included)
    New OEM Honda tank shrouds
    New Maier Front Fender
    New Maier Headlight shroud.
    New OEM Front Brake Line
    New Clutch Cable
New Motion Pro Twist throttle and cable
    “New” Coned exhaust pipe
Replaced seal and oil in front shocks.
    New fork boots
    New chain
    New sprockets
    “New" airbox and lid
Most bolts were replaced using a 250r bolt kit.
Carb is not stock, but the common upgraded carb with the oval slide.
    New front tire.
    New aluminum grab bar.
    New clutch and brake levers
    “New” coolant reserve bottle
    New Uni Air filter
    New chain case saver

2006 450R swingarm swap (used the old shock):

    450r swingarm
    450r sprocket and brake disk
    450r shock linkage
    450r axle
    450r rear brake caliper
New Billet Aluminum axle bearing carrier
New Tusk aluminum hubs that widen the rear axle +3 inches
“New” Lone star adjustable linkage, allows you to raise and lower the rear end

Everything has been powder coated and cleaned up, however, the rear rims are the originals and show some use obviously.

    **End of PO information**

The Honda wasn't running when I purchased it, but after cleaning the flywheel and neighboring parts up best I could, a new CDI, and new coil + spark plug assembly, it fired right up ran well.

    Things that need some attention:

    - Leaks oil from the bottom drain plug; threads are stripped out and when tightening the plug just spins after a certain point. Not the end of the world, but an issue.
    - Front brakes need adjusting or new pads, haven't looked yet; they're there, but weak. *Rear brakes work great
    - Rears are lacking tread, but ride-able
    - Electrical switch: Off positions don't kill the machine, however, all the light settings work fine.
    - Could probably use a tune

Its an absolutely beautiful machine and a joy to ride, but like I said, moving and won't be able to bring it with me

Any thoughts on price/ condition/ anything is appreciated.

I'll try and post some photos by the end of the day as well. You can look on my other threads for the time being, sorry.

I know one thing. The farther you go east the more is worth. So if you are moving east, take it with you and sell it there. With out pictures its going to be hard for anyone to help you out.

I paid $1900 for my 85 3 years ago in similar shape except for the 450 swingarm conversion.

I've seen some on TX CL in the 12-1500 range lately.

I have surprisingly few pictures but:

It's worth $800 and I'll drive down from Montana to pick it up

I desperately need a 2 stroker in my garage.

The "I'll give you $20 and a six pack of whatever" always make me laugh

Seems like the machines on Ebay bring (or attempt to) some good money; I think this one has the potential.

Anyways, proceed as you all were.

It has potential, if you find someone who wants it, who will pay for it, and then you want to possible deal with the shipping, especially if you have to break it down, crate it up, get it to somewhere. People always forget to charge for their time, so if they sell something for $2000 via ebay then have to spend 6 hours getting it ready and shipping it, they would have done better in the beginning taking $1500 cash from the guy in the driveway.

Good luck with the sale though.

on a hot tip from Hoosierlogger, I busted a move to Rockville IN to snag a A2 T3.

my truck was down with a blown head gasket so I tore the tecate down in the guys driveway into 4 major pcs......frame/motor, front forks/wheel, rear swinger/axle assembly, and fenders/seat...........then I crammed every bit of it into an `06 Impala trunk and backseat. are you SURE you can`t take it with you? Stuff it all in the closet when you get there.

Bike would fetch 2000 easily here, but they would bltch about the rear tires the whole time. Rears are $100 a pair for anything that will look better than that, and the bike will sell twice as fast.
