    200x cams

    I'd like to put a mild cam in my 84 200x and was wondering what would be the best one between the xr200 cam and the other aftermarket cams. And if I buy a new cam what else would I need
    I didn't want to shoot that man but he heard that I was fast you know hat liqueur gave him the courage that put him in the ground

    Why Ike, whatever do you mean? Maybe poker's just not your game Ike. I know! Let's have a spelling contest!

    You used two words there, Mild, and Best. In my opinion, the best mild cam is the stock cam. Going to an xr200 cam just because, is not a good reason to tear the engine down. If youre gonna disassemble it, add compression too. Just my opinion.

    That being said, the xr200 cam is more affordable than the aftermarket offerings, and its OEM eqp. Cant beat it for the price.

    hello;

    yeah, what he said, lol.

    also you need to determine exactly what you want.

    increasing cam size typically raises the overall power band also. the bigger the cam the less bottom end you have.

    if you want bottom end like a big block ford delivers then you need a big bore kit more than you need a high perf cam.

    below are two big cam mfg's. check them out too.

    PIPE - You csan remove the stock silencer and install a less restrictive type for mild per gains. if you get a big bore kit oir big cam you should get a big noisy exhaust from DG or similar. thy might be for sale cheap on amazon.com

    CARB - Of course you will need a slightly bigger chinese car from ebay and possibly a slightly bigger intake boot.

    Well, according to the factory specs listed by megacycle...it is a smaller cam and will have more bottom end and less top end.

    the xr also has a 6 speed trans and 10:1 compression. your bike is 9.6:1.

    hi;

    if you want to run just a little bigger cam and keep everything else stock i would try a web cam p/n 40B. see it in the link below. you can gear your bike accordingly if necessary. its easy enough to change back if you don't like it.
