    Tri Z help

Im new to Z's and have a bottom end right now with the top off and every time I rotate the crank using the rod in either direction the kick start shaft rotates, is this normal? The kicker is not installed on the shaft.

Also why are the clutch side covers so expensive on these? usually its the chain side that is higher priced, just wondering. thanks

That's not normal for the kick start shaft to spin, something's wrong there. On the Tri Z the stator cover is plastic, the clutch covers break behind the kick start cover plate often. I've got quite a few engine parts, stator covers, clutch cover too, let me know if you need something.

There is a kick start idle gear that rides on the output shaft under the clutch cover. It should always spin free when the engine is rotating. In my experience with them, the cir -clip pops off that retains that gear and they get wadded up behind the clutch gear and it locks the engine up against the kicker gears. Pull the clutch cover and take a look. hopefully the groove for the clip is ok, or you have to split the cases and replace the output shaft.
Here is where my long useless list of stuff nobody cares about should go...

Yea i should have at least 2 sets of everything. You may get lucky and get away with cleaning out all the parts?

I learned on here that it is because the foot pegs bend and allow the kickers to go to far and this breaks the covers. Keep an eye on your foot peg in relation to the kicker.
