200x gearing question- need opinions from X riders
So, I'm building up an '84 200X I bought with a junky engine (bad crank). I have a good running '79 XR185 engine (6-speed) that I could use for the time being. It has a 3.083 first gear vs. the 2.769 of the stock X. Second thru 5th gear are the same as the X, and it has a 0.785 sixth. I have never ridden a 200x, so I don't know how the stock gear spacing "feels". How are the stock first and second ratios? Do you think my 1st and 2nd will be too far apart?
