    1984 200es wont start

I traded a few things for this machine, its clean, i was told it ran but had an air leak.

I changed the cracked air intake and it fired right up, but it must have had another air leak and went into a "death rev" as soon as it started, it reved really high so i hit the killswitch right away. I took the carb out and replaced every o-ring on the intakes/carb and am confident there wont be anymore air leaks. Now it wont start, it has spark and it is getting fuel, any idea of what I might have done, or where to start?

to be clear, it has a nice bright blue spark, and the spark plug is wet with fuel after tuning it over

It sounds like its not getting air???? The death rev shouldnt happen in a 4 stroke unless the slides stuck in the carb? Ive never heard of a 4 revving like a 2 stroke due to and intake or case leak.

It will rev like that if you forget to put the slide back in and start it, a massive air leak.
You need to go back to basics, prime the carb with a squirt of starting fluid, if it fires off then it's not getting fuel through the carb. Pull it apart again and check the float/needle. Sometimes you can rap on the side of the carb to unstick the float needle without removing it.

Ok I might have exaggerated a little bit, it revved up like wide open throttle, the carb was cleaned by the P.O so maybe they did something wrong? I'm pretty confident that it's getting fuel, I tried the old starting fluid and it still won't fire up, almost like the timing jumped out of place if that's even possible, I haven't had a whole lot of time to tinker with it but I get the next few days off

Make sure the carb slide is properly installed the throttle cable isn't stuck for starters.

i did pull it out and inspect it, it functions properly and is installed proplery, it only goes in one way, at least i hope so. the thing i did notice was it was very loosly in place, so i put in a new oring on the top of it, i do belive this is where the air was coming from. But still no igniton, it has tones of compression, i need to use the decompression leaver and the old lady cant even pull it over, unlike my last one i had, I called her old smokey

Its very unlikely the timing jumped, but easy to check if you pull the CDI cover and the timing mark cover.
More likely you have a messed up carb.
