85 350X. bringing a basket case back to life

Needs a lot of love, but i should be able to make a good solid machine out of it and make a few bucks come sell time... Just going to use good used parts to bring it back from the dead... Except for the consumables, Ill go new with bearings and seals etc... I only have the 2 pics at the moment, but Ill get more and post them up tomorrow... Probably be at least a few month project, but Ill try to get pics along the way and post them up... Its not going to be anything special really... I will take it right down to the frame and give a lot of it some fresh paint, but like I said Im really just trying to save one from the scrap heap and make a few bucks...

    Thanks for looking,
    Greg

well i got the old girl on life support... lol... fired her up and the motor is good to go with great compression... cant believe some of the "fixes" that have been done to the poor thing and other things that were let go... wont be much room to make money on this one, but i get to save one from the heap... some things ill use from my machine to fix this one and make upgrades to mine... and i have a few rebuildable parts from when i replaced them on my machine...

I applaud your efforts and can speak from experience that it will be very difficult to resurrect a basket case and make money on it. The sad fact of the matter is that the sum of the individual parts is worth more than the assembled 3-wheeler. I'm not saying it to discourage you, I hate seeing machines go down for good. Just be careful with the budget. Keep the progress pics coming!

i hear that... im very very aware of all of that... in my area though these machines sell for a lot more than other areas... the first pics i posted is what i got for my money... what i got will go for 350-500 and i didn't even pay close to the 350, sooooo... when im done i should be able to get 1500-1750... ill be upgrading some stuff on my personal machine and using the replaced parts to put this one back together so i kinda don't look at that as putting money into the project... im not in a huge hurry to get it done and with a lot of the little things i need, i should be able to steal them cheap enough on eBay, Craigslist, or Facebook... the gas tank will be the hardest and most pricey to find... and i don't need to make a ton of money on it... it is more about not letting another one disappear forever... i know i can at least break even, and worst case, if i absolutely have to i can always part it out..

well its taking a little longer than i wanted but its back in one piece... still has a couple things it needs to be completely right, but it can be sold the way it is so Ive run an add and will continue with the couple things it needs... after that, all it needs is a teardown to be cleaned and painted... took it out for a shakedown and man is she strong... im in southwestern New Hampshire if anyone is close by and wants to check it out...
