    Thanks! good to know. I'm guessing the xtra top end is obviously the 6th gear, I just remembered reading the Yamaha sales advertisement for 1986 stating the 86 had a different ignition that advanced/retarded the timing automatically to optimize the power delivery so perhaps that's where the xtra grunt comes from. Wonder if there was any cylinder design changes as well? The 1986 Tri Zs seem too be really few and far between. I've viewed one for sale in the last year ,but probably at least 25 1985s. The 86 was also asking $3500.00 bucks as well

    When windowing the Piston, what measurements? How exactly do you know where to put the window? Yes I know, old thread but I'm not going to get a beat down for starting a new thread.
