Hey all, I just got an 86 Tri Z 250, the clutch arm on the crank case is really sloppy and loose. Is it possible to fix this from the outside or do i have to split the crank case and get in there?
Thanks!

Hi, you don't need to split the cases but you need to remove the clutch cover to access the pushrod adjustment. The clutch arm comes out strait up, all you have under there is a seal and needle bearing. http://www.partzilla.com/parts/searc...TCH/parts.html
ah ok - that makes sense now, just have to get that bearing out - seems destroyed. I'll look at it tomorrow.
thanks!
Thanks for that, I pulled the motor and took the rod out - the arm lifted out easily and i also pulled the arm bearing cage out - with no needle bearings in it - so they are rolling around in the case! This machine was sevrerly abused so I might just put a different motor in it - any ideas which other engines fit?
Thanks!

The Good:
1985 1/2 Tri-Z - Daily Rider - Pretty much stock ( wink )
1985 1/2 Tri-Z - Custom Black & Gold, Top mount plastic tank, custom 3D printed airbox, Banshee shock
1985 Tri-Z - Rider restore in process
The Bad:
1988 TRX250R with 86 ATC 250R Motor and Swinger - Screamer!
The Ugly:
1993-ish Banshee / 2003 Motor by VSR in Belding, MI - Duner Fun!!
2000-ish Banshee / Motor by RDZ Racing in Fowlerville, MI - Another Duner!
The bearing and seal is like 20$. If it where me and it runs good I would throw em in change the oil and put a magnetic drain plug in and run it. If nothing else the cases for the 83-86 yz 250 were all the same and your 6 speed parts will drop right in. Even the 85 z cases will hold the 86 trans. The dirtbike cranks and jugs were different though.
Here is where my long useless list of stuff nobody cares about should go...
