I got to busy today to pull off the stock one but as far as i can see it looks real close length wise. Ill pull it out and take a shot at this. Post pics soon . Only tying im worried about is grinding the shock to let the head of it fit in the chassis.

I'm very interested to see what you find. I've been listening for 2 years now for someone to give me a solution for my 250es. One month ago I put a shock from a late 80's trx/fourtrax or something. There wasnt much left to it but I grabbed the rear shock. Same length, but doesn't sag when I sit on it. It's solid. Non adjustable. I had to grind down the bolt hole casings as they are wider then the big red. It rides stiff.

So, I now have my original 85 Big Red shock that I could send out to be rebuilt? Does anyone reading this remember where I can get this done?
