    Whenever i start my X....

    White smoke pours out the exuast it smeels like oil but after thirty seconds of running it stops?

    Probably condensation in the cylinder, or possibly oil leaking past the valve seals (althought that should be blue smoke if valve seales are the case). In any case I wouldn't worry about it, anything old is gonna smoke when it starts up cold.

    It could be the valve guides.

    I believe your R is water cooled, right? If so, white smoke is generally coolant or water burning. I would check your fluid level and see if it is diminishing. the most common areas for a head gasket to blow is between the waterjacket and the cyclinder, thus causing the symptom you described.

    If your coolant level is constant, then it may be condensation.

    While your X is still cold, I think oil is getting past the rings. Once it warms up, it quits...
