    big red kickstarter slipping??

    I just bought a 85 big red and the kickstarter slips ..its doing exactly what my 200 x did...I fixed the x by buying the new spring and back cutting the kicker gears..I dont recall ever hearing about a big red with those issues..any input guys? Thanks!!

    It sounds like your one way bearing is going out. I replaced one in my 250SX years back and it solved the issue.

    Yes, the 250es and SX have the slipping kicker thing but the Fix is a lot easier than 1st gen 200x. There is a One-way bearing in the centrifugal clutch that wears out. While your in there, it's a good idea to clean the rubbing surfaces really well. I haven't seen it be anything else and I've owned over a dozen ES SX's

    When I replaced mine I just bought a honda oem one. Never had any problems with it.

    Its $90 or so + shipping thru "ServiceHonda"- so......IDK....
    It would be nice if those cheaper ones worked well- for awhile at least. For us with more limited funds. Its half the price.

    I just put the part number in eBay and I got one in honda packaging for like $70 +or- some change shipped.

    I noticed while I was looking through shindy's catalog that they make one way clutch bearings and I think they were going for 60 on amazon. The part number is 11-901 on shindy's site. There's another option with a brand name to go with it if your still looking.
