    Shifter Help Needed

    Hey,

Well, I am finally getting through the process of putting the engine back together on the ATC 200.

I am stuck on the shift shaft... There is a big spring on the bottom of the shaft, called the "return spring" and I have no clue where it goes!

When I go to insert the shaft, everything seems normal, but the spring is just loosely spinning around in there. Surely it connects to something? In the manual it says absolutely nothing about where to put this spring....

Does anyone know where on earth this spring connects to?

Here is a pic of the case it goes into for reference:

Hopefully someone knows! Thanks in advance,
    Nate

    Ok, figured it out...

Basically, each side of that spring goes onto that spline area by the shift plate. Takes a bit of finessing, but it fits eventually.

Here is an image. The black on the drawing represents the spring.

Force the spring back over the post next to your left thumb in your first picture and pop it in place when installing on the post in the case .

Be sure to double check that it is seated before you bolt it back up. They love to pop loose when you arent looking.

You aren't being an idiot at all! You are clearly way ahead of many who post since you can form a complete sentence, ask clear understandable questions, and as a bonus you know how to use a camera and understand what the term focus means. I'd say you are way ahead of the curve here.

Good luck with the rest of the repair. Post up with any more questions you might have along the way.
