I asked my friend Jocelynn yesterday that if she had any gen 1honda 200x sprockets laying around. Today i went over to go seee the pieces she had. Her dad said i can take the parts if they fit and at no charge. So i get there and i cant help but realize we walk up to a complete bike with tank removed. And he tells me its mine to take if the parts will fit. So now i come home with a whole 85 200x. Its a project bike just because its missing a few things and minor dmages. Man did this broghten my day!!!
Hope to get the baby running by christmas. And again a thousand thanks to my friend Jocelynn for the bike!!

That little box at the top right with a magnifying glass next to it is to search the site. Give it a try, I'm sure you will find a couple threads about rust removal. I prefer to use muratic acid myself. Before you ask what oil to run in your bike search that too. Welcome to the site BTW.

I have had good luck dumping a bunch of nuts and bolts in the tank and shaking it around for quite awhile to remove a lot of the surface rust. Then filled with cider vinegar and let it soak for a week. Worked quite well. Can be repeated as necessary and is relatively cheap.

I assure you that what F76 suggested will not damage the tank. I have done it plenty of times and it helps get the rust broken loose so that whatever you choose to soak the tank with can work faster and more effectively.

I use small (1/4" by 1/2" or smaller bolts and nuts) and shake it from side to side so everything slides on the surface. Perhaps if using larger media and shaking extremely vigorously damage could occur, but in my experience I have never seen any damage from the method I suggested.

Alright thanks guys and im goin to do this tomorrow or saturday and i will see how it goes. I got vinegar like some people had mentioned and im using a handfull of washers since i cant find any of my bolts.

Well some time has passed since i got the free bike, and saving account was filled a bit. So i bought a lot of minor pieces and parts that were essential to the bike to start. I paid like 70 dollars to get it running and from there on more is invested in comstics and body work. So far i spent about 230 to 250 in all. It includes wheel set too. I got the bike to idle but boggs out past 1cm pressing of the throttle. I hope someone could give some advice on this.

have you checked, cleaned the carburetor. That would be a good place to start.

Cleaned the 70 tank with nuts bolts and gravel. Stuck it in the cement mixer for a few hours. Looks GREAT now !
