exhaust flange help 84 250r

Hey guys on the part of the flange that the silencer slips on to is that metal split ring an essential part or can I just put a big ol thick ring of black sealant around it and go. Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

I doubt a sealant would hold up to the heat and i also I think the bike will make its own big thick black ring of 2 stroke exhaust sludge all around it. It will still run but blow oil out everywhere.
I would just grab one for a few bucks and be done with it.

I concur. Do not use black silicone or sealant or whatever. Just locate another flange that still has the ring, clean it up, and go.
