So I took my 1985 BigRed (and my dirtbike) to Colorado for 8 days of riding - it worked great!
Unable to find different jets in time for trip, so lowered needle to top notch and screwed pilot screw in quite a ways - never had a problem even though jetting not optimal.
BigRed went everywhere the side-by-sides and quads went, just slower due to less suspension travel:
