Rebuild 1982 ATC250R, Hacks and Front Wheel Options?!

Decided to just rip the damn '82 down and go for the full restoration. I have all the parts it's just the motor that is
giving me grief. So I'll be shipping that down to Shortline10 this fall for him to work on it right. Last night I blasted
most of the R down and chucked the split frame. Surprised it is still outside and the scrappers didn't get it yet.

Found out the guy that owned it before me was a real Hack. God the he did to this thing is just plain stupid.
The worst is his conversion to the skinny front tire...UGH. You'll see in the pictures below.
Are the front brake discs for an 83-84 the same size as a '82? I supposed I can find a new 83-84 hub and work
with that otherwise I have to convert it back to the original hub, tire, rim for the '82.

Looks like what they did was kept the 1st gen front but just used an 83-84 hub and wheel. that hub is junk. they used the 1982 1st gen brake disc and parts also. I would look for a 1st gen hub and then run a wide tire. keep your front rim and tire and if you do not like the wide front you can always find a complete 200x front for it.
Rebuilding and riding trikes everyday and lovin every minute.

    That was an interesting solution...

82 discs are significantly smaller than the others.

That's what I thought. I did have a 200X front end I could pick up, but what are my options for a front rim....stock only?

If you go with 200x front end you can get the 10 inch front rim and use a 86-87 200x ,85-86 250r or 85-86 350x front hub and have the option of what 10 inch front tire you want. You can also run the 85-86 style front fender. On my 81 250r Im using a 230 Quadsport rear rim with a 82 250r front hub I had to file four spots on the rim slightly. The Q-sport rim is 9 inch it sits slightly to one side but has no effect on handling. I also have a ealry 85 Quadracer rear rim that I filed to fit thats a 10 inch rim and gold color.

What is the front bolt pattern on the 82 Front Rim I haven't been able to find that info.
