1985 big red 250es new front tire too wide...????

so i purchased three Carlyle trail wolf tires for the big red. The front tire, with the correct tire pressure, is just barely rubbing on the forks. With 20lbs. pressure i can gain proper clearance with 1/4 inch to spare. Whats the worst thing that can happen with 20lbs air in the front tire or is the a remedy for this. They are the correct size tire for this trike (25x12x9)

20 psi seems a little high... is that the recommended pressure on the sidewall? Usually manufacturers recommend anywhere from 4-12 psi, although it varies widely depending on the tire. If memory serves, the factory tires on my Big Red recommend 2.2 psi.

I run my tires higher pressure, probably 10-15 pounds for hulling etc, never had a problem, it might stretch the tire some though. I'd check the sidewall pressure for the max specs just to be safe. It will ride a bit rougher with higher pressure.

Make sure it does not rub even with bumps and while turning, it WILL wear into anything it rubs on. My cousin's 250sx has pretty heavy wear on his forks from tire rub, sitting still it had clearance, but while turning it would rub slightly.

i have the same tires on one of my 250es's, same issues, i was able to have clearance between the fork boots with about 6 psi in the front tire, still more pressure than i want, otherwise i really like the tires...................
