Difference between OEM and Maier Plastic.

How can a guy verify the plastic on his 29 year old used 250R ATC is OEM or aftermarket?

I purchased a very nice 250R a couple of months ago. Took my life savings pretty much. It has perfect plastics all the way around. I found a receipt from 2004 for a fender. It was a very vague receipt. $400 on an old carbon copy that is sun faded. If all the plastics are OEM i would speculate that Honda did not sell out of factory plastics until around that time?

    Thanks

    Another question....

Did the ATC 250R's come stock with a twist or thumb throttle?

I have two 250R's and one has a twist and one has a thumb.

    Thanks again.

Post pics of the fenders or the whole trike, visually it is easy to tell OEM vs Maier.

The 250r came from the factory with thumb throttles. I believe the Tecate was the only sport trike that came with twist.

The first year 225dx did too. Then the next years following it came as an option. I can't remember if it was 83 or 84 though.

    But that's not entirely sport.

Turn the fenders upside down. If they are the oem fenders they are injection molded and will have round or elliptical marks on the under side (3/8- 1/2" dia) from the ejector pins. There will be just an outline of the pins visable.

If the red actually matches the tank, it's most likely OEM, if it doesn't, most likely not

Those look to be stock fenders to me. Is that a flat spot behind the seat I see?? - that too is a dead giveaway.
