    Wtf? Thgousand dollar increments...dental story

...so the gorgeous receptionist says ta me she says.....
"that will be 1321$ for today"
she smiled nice so I gave her my credit card.
I thought I can deduct it on taxes, so no big deal and I was still goofy and a tad numb from 2.6 hrs in the chair.
Turns out, only 10% OVER 5 grand is deductible. medical bill wise.

So I says to my self I says, "I'm gonna print a 1,000$ worth of garage girlie calenders and send them to my customers ."
Technically soft core porn, cute girls in bikinis like u see in aany aauto repair shop, THROUGH the mail
delivered by federal employees and THAT is 100% deductible.
    Really?You gotta be kidding.

Gotcha beat. No dental insurance here, but I saw a commercial for Aspen Dental, and took the bait. $2,700 for less than 2 hours work. They hooked me with "easy financing" to the tune of about 26% interest. By the time I paid off my bill, it ended up costing me about 5k, with no surgery whatsoever. I think they actually made my teeth worse. Did they give me a "Healthy Mouth"? Ah, FAWK no!!!

How much for one of those calendars? I would be paying in cash...

Dental insurance is beyond comprehensible and the stories are even better.

The toothbrush was invented here in Union Springs, NY. Otherwise, it would have been called a teethbrush.

^^^ Chime back in 20 years and see if you have the same attitude. I brush my teeth 3-4 times every day, as I have for over 50 years. Getting old takes its toll on everything.

That is not enough. Flossing is as important as brushing if not more. One should also go to the dentist at least once or twice a year to have the plaque scraped off your teeth and x rays for preventative maintenance so you don't get expensive bills.

I go to the dentist every six months for a cleaning. As a matter of fact, I was in there this past Monday for my fall cleaning. I take good care of my teeth with brushing, flossing, and rinsing. I drink very little soda, preferring Arizona green tea, or, juice. And, I rinse my mouth out with water at the very least. Always use a tooth pick after every meal. Cannot stand having anything in my teeth. But, I have my mother's teeth, and all but maybe 3 teeth in my mouth has had major work done to them. I have 4 teeth that were root canals, and two are crowned because the damage was too extensive to just fill. My teeth aren't the best, and I wouldn't be surprised in the least if I need denture in another ten years when I'm 36.

Lucky for me, my dentist's office has a program where they pick a patience from each of the two dentists and they do your dental work free. Got 6k dollars free dental work done.

I had the distinct pleasure of having an Army dentist drilling and filling every one of my back teeth, except for the one that had a cavity. He basically destroyed my teeth. That was over 3 decades ago, so I am lucky to still have all but two of my original teeth, and those teeth were in the back, so no biggie. Eventually, I am going to have all of my teeth pulled and be fitted with dentures.

I never thought I would outlive my teeth, but I am happy to still be around. As a kid, I remember one of my older brother's friends had already lost all of his teeth by age 20. One night he told his Dad that he had a date, and asked if he could borrow his Dad's dentures for the evening. YEEEUUUUCCCCKKKKKK!

That sucks tri, hopefully Ortho is covered better than your regular dentist bills if you have young kids needing work. Ours is paid at 50%. Both my kids had braces and I'm out 6K out of 12K total in two years. They used to ask when do they get to go on a warm vacation.....I tell them to smile.
