TIRES for 1984 200ES big red

sad day today... Finally punctured one of my original BIG balloon tires on the back of my Big red. its a AT25X12-9. BIG BALLON tire with the original knobby tires! the huuge ones..

With the original knobby tires on the back I can fit the trike in my truck, BUT with these original tires its to wide.

Would love to hear what others are running on the rears of there big reds.. WHATS BEST??

yes I know I can put a tube in it, but looking to try something from this century now on there
heard lots of raves about the Bear claws.. whats widest I can put on there?? my buddy has 25X12-9 but they arnt as wide as my originals.... my originals probably 5-6 inches wider!

You could fit 13 inch wide bearclaws on the rear but may need spacers and on a hardtail bear claws are ROUGH!!

I have ITP Blackwater's on mine, older ones, not radials. They ride a bit rough but seem to be durable.

If you have Carlisle knobbies those aren't original tires and you can still purchase Carlisle knobby tires in the 25x12-9 size

Here are the Bear Klaws I have on mine. I love it and I don't think the ride is bad at all. But, this is just my opinion.

how are those bear claws in the mud? do u have a pic of them from the back?

My only complaint with the knobbies is in the mud, they suck.. basically mud goes in between the knob's and makes the tire round and just spins easily

Honestly, I haven't encountered the mud yet. Only have 3 rides on these, possibly 4. I'll get a pic from the rear.

I have Swamp Foxes on the back of mine, never heard of them but they are alittle knarleyer then the bear claws. They are mint in the mud. They just ride rough, you dont even need psi in the tires lol.

On a bike with no rear suspension I would go with a softer tire than a bear claw. Some thing that is around a 2 ply. We just came back from riding the rock house trails on the hatfield and McCoy trail system and kiser has bear claws and me and my brother have 2 tires and when it came to wet rocks those bear claws SUCK we would just walk right around him. But they do do good in mud and snow. So it all depends what kind of riding you are going to do and what kind of ride you want out of them

I went to the tire shop today and basically have 3 choices.

    1) Carlisle knobbies just like I had

    2) Carlisle TRAIL WOLF.. kinda a mix between the knobbies and bear claw

    3) bear claws

Think im goin with door #2
