Honda 250sx has the wrong dipstick...

Ive got two sx's and one has the right oil dipstick. I picked one up last summer and it has what looks to be the same dipstick til you take it out and the low and high oil level marks are different..Only about 1/2 inch apart. Did the big reds have a slightly different oil dipstick lets say perhaps the 200 big red? I usually use the one dipstick to check the oil on both machines. My dad went out one day to do some yard work and checked the oil and said i had way to much oil in one. I forgot to tell him one of them is different..

I pulled up the part number for the 85 250SX dipstick, and then searched what other machines/years used it and here is the result:
Assemblies where 15650-HA6-680 is used
1985 ATC250ES A - RIGHT CRANKCASE COVER
1985 ATC250SX A - RIGHT CRANKCASE COVER
1985 TRX250 A - RIGHT CRANKCASE COVER
1986 ATC250ES A - RIGHT CRANKCASE COVER
1986 ATC250SX A - RIGHT CRANKCASE COVER
1986 TRX250 A - RIGHT CRANKCASE COVER
1987 ATC250ES A - RIGHT CRANKCASE COVER
1987 ATC250SX A - RIGHT CRANKCASE COVER
1987 TRX250 A - RIGHT CRANKCASE COVER

So all the 250SX's and the 250 Big Red's used the same dipstick. The question is, which one of yours is the correct one, and which is not. My 350X dipstick looks similar to those. My 250SX isn't at my house now... but I'll measure where the marks are on my 350X dipstick and then see if they match either of those. Then maybe we can assume the other one is the correct one for the 250SX.

One has a H in the centre of the lines or is blank.

Ive been using the one with the larger safe zone gap which is the one on bottom. I bought that machine off a guy many years ago who collected them machines and had mint 250 big reds and 250r's. So Im sure its the right one..The one with the odd, smaller safe zone i got off a guy not too long ago who had a big red too. I did not ask him what kind og big red it was. Maybe he had a 200 and mixed it up and thats why its smaller..If someone has a 200 they will know if its similiar...

All 200's are plastic.

Well, it isn't a 350X like I mentioned was a possibility. My 350X dipstick is marked with "HA5" in between the marks. Like ATC007 says, my 200S motor and 200ES Big Red both have a plastic dipstick.
