I know someone else with a 250r engine from a quad, will it fit? I might buy it as a spare. They're all air cooled? I'm not sure what year the one I bought is but I know its air cooled. I sold my YT125 to make room for the 250r.

Thanks a lot. Now I know what to look for when I check out the engine.

I was told the 85's were the fastest R's made stock from the factory..... anyone else have an input on this?

3rd gen R's are the best IMO. 30% more power in stock form. 6 speed. More front and rear suspension travel. Better brakes. Better looking (My opinion, as i love all years of the 250r). Wider/Longer stance so more stable. Nothing wrong with the air cooled bikes though!!

As stated above each gen of the r has its own following. Nonthing beats the look of an 81/82 with the wide front and short stance. I have a few of each gen and like them all for differant reasons. I am redoing an 84 right now' and have others in the works. Find out the year for sure and we can help you out more. No matter what year it is you will be smiling ear to ear, as a two stoke atv is a blast to ride and the 250r's are some of the best ever built.
