My guess, liability/warranty reasons. Racing tends to put more stress on every component, if you manage to bend/break the wheel, or hurt your self while racing using one of these wheels this gives them an instant out to not warranty the product, and takes away any liability for a lawsuit on the grounds that the product was not used as intended therefor they are not liable. I would imagine that they would work just fine for ice racing, or any racing for that matter, but if they break/bend, (not that I think they will) don't expect to get anything back.

    Those are SUPER thin.

I bought a pair and used my neighbors ATV wheel machine (which I`ve used frequently with no issues before and it taco-ed both wheels trying to mount a stiff set of tires.

I figured if the wheel machine did that, I didn`t want to use the wheels so I pitched them in the scrap pile....a $75 lesson

I agree with them being super thin. I had a motorcycle shop that has been in business a long time mount some brand new sand stars on those rims i bought from them and they bent the lip on one, so I asked for money back on the rim.

I put some bends in them just running over sticks/roots in the woods outside the sand hill. Soft sand only I would say, they are light but the wall thickness is weak. I will never buy them again either.

They would offer the least rotating mass for a race trike on smooth ice. Dangerous? Probably, but isnt riding all fast toys?

Exactly, being light weight. I cant see damaging these on the ice.

I use bike spoons to mount every thing. The only problem I had mounting was when I got some blems and were smaller that the rim and bent the lip. Fickin blems.

Uhmm, I hope that's not a reference to me because if anyone got screwed, it was me. If that's about me, I'm not happy; and I have plenty to say but I'll wait for a response.

I have used duglas red label rims for ice racing. After a couple of races you need to start looking for cracks around the bolts and where the hub meets the rim. I have cracked a few pair. Fine on a atc70, anything with weight or ice racing I recommend something different. Ok for riding on the Lake with your buddys. Black label are ok
    Trikes:
    1985 ATC 70 mod to 184cc
    1984 ATC70 mod to 124cc
    1983 ATC 70 Xmas restoration

    Quads:
    1986 TRX 250R
    2002 TRX 400EX
    2- LT80 for the kids
    1986 LT 50

I think a lot of these warning labels are misleading . They are not written for a racing 3 wheeler that probably only weighs 260# or 270# after all the none essentials are removed or replaced . There written for big ass quads like the 450r or 400ex that weigh 100#s more . The old Mitchell wheels were pretty dang light and we used them for mx but they didn't last very long .
