    my trike build

Hello everyone. I have a 85 honda 200m I'm wanting to rebuild and race at some of the events I've heard about and watched on YouTube. But instead of rebuilding the original motor, I'm wanting to swap in a 200x or 350. Something a little more competitive. Question is, how to get new parts that aren't made anymore, like shocks, and plastic? Any help would be appreciated.

Just my opinion but the 200m is a solid utility trike and not really designed for racing. It may be easier to just get something a little more performance oriented if you want to race it. As far as parts a lot of them are discontinued but there is still a lot of stuff available on this site and others. Once you get past the ten post limit you will be granted access to the classified sections.

What parts do you need to get the 200m rolling?

To get it running I need to replace all cables, rebuild the motor or buy a new one if I can find it. I also need to replace ignition switch. After that it's mostly cosmetics. Far as racing, I though the frame was in really good shape and still has all the manufacturer stickers. No rust or anything. Was just thinking faster motor and upgrade the suspension and have fun while figuring out what's being run and done with them today. I had a Yamaha 250 something a few years ago I raced friends in fields and dirt roads. Would be fun to try it on a track.

Parts I can't find, like shocks I may try and buy a 4 wheeler version of and make them work.

Post a couple pics so we can look at it. By shocks I assume that you are talking about the forks. There is a lot of stuff in the classifieds and different members including myself have parts for sale. Just a few more posts and it should open up the whole forum. Just let us know what you need bro. We want to see you wheelie that bearch around the block.

I remember when the 200X came out. Made the hardtail suspension conversions (like my fully suspended 185s) obsolete overnight.

Working the 200M like you're talking about sounds like fun but you'll be ahead in all ways ($$ and performance) if you just buy a 200X.

That said, an easy engine swap is one of the Chinese 200CC engines. They run great and just about bolt in. I put one in a 200X. Others have put them in hardtails as well.

This X has a 200cc OHV Loncin in it. E-start. Manual clutch. It would walk all over my stock (tired) 200X.

I bought a compelte 200CC dirt bike for under $200 to get the engine. It took 6+ months of watching Craigslist to score the great deal though.

My 200m Has plenty of power on tap but I wouldn't race it because of lack of rear suspension. As for fenders the rears are they are the same as a 200es and 200e you should be able to find a nice used set on ebay because no one reproduces these fenders. As for the front fender you probably will be out of luck because there near impossible to find and if you do find them the price is so high you can't touch them.
