    350X Fork Questions

I am rebuilding the forks on my 350X and have a question regarding the guide and slider bushings. Before posting this thread I have looked around on here for any previous posts, so if I missed an existing thread covering this feel free to flame me.

So looking at the Parts Fiche you will see reference # 10, #11.
reference #10 is available and I have purchased a pair from Honda for previous fork rebuilds, however reference #11 part # 51415-MA6-003 shows discontinued with Honda. So my question is, is there another slider bushing part number that interchanges with this one? Or if the bushing is worn, do I just have to re-use it and live with it? Thanks for any info!

I would get a hold of a local suspension re-builder and let them handle it, here is why. i used to redo mine, but as parts became discontinued, it no longer made mental or financial sense for me. it will typically cost you $120-$150 with parts to have the "pair" of forks rebuilt from a builder. Parts for everything typically range in the $100 mark, plus then your labor. Here is the next thing, they have access to lots of different parts and can measure and match what will work. thus making it easier to replace bushing, seals and other stuff than we do. my builder says he is using parts from 3 different bikes to fit my forks and have them work better than new.

when I had my 85/86 250r forks rebuilt in 08, the suspension guy didn't care what they were from. He didn't care that honda had sliders and seals discontinued, he said he will measure everything and order what he needs. The guy i use now, does the same, he mix-matches parts to make stuff work better also.

I went to do a set for the 250R and I think it was the damping rod white plastic ring, so I imagine the other models have similar issues as well........

What I did was personally go to Honda dealer and had him research what parts were still being made and what was discontinued.
I then purchased everything that was a wear item that was still available. I next took to my personal shock rebuilder and had him rebuild. Not that I don't trust most shock rebuilding shops but I do not trust most aftermarket parts especially front Atc parts rebuild kits. They are just cheap stuff
