Keep in mind the surge current from an HID 'kit' can exceed 10 amps upon startup. It takes somewhere in the realms of 25,000 volts to ignite the HID bulb and the ballast can suck upwards of 20 amps on some units. A buddy couldn't understand why he kept blowing his 10 amp fuse every time he lit up the HID on his cruiser until I put a current meter on it and measured nearly 20 amps. Always ensure you're using good quality wiring that can handle the current loads of the lights as well.
